Picking up the rubbish on the road while running is regarded as protecting environment and enjoying health. The most popular way of fitness plogging (running + picking up rubbish) was accessed into Hongkou on September 16. More than 200 citizens of Hongkou participated into the plogging for greeting the China International Import Expo (CIIE for short), advocating the concepts of civilization such as not littering and garbage sorting.
There were 50 days left for the opening of the CIIE on Sept. 16. A total of 12 plogging teams were divided into four groups. Regarding Luxun Park as the point of departure, they ran toward 4 branch venues, namely, Liangcheng Park, Quyang Park, Heping Park and North Sichuan Road Park. The running route shows the shape of four-leaf clover on the map, which coincides with the “clover” appearance of the National Exhibition and Convention Center, symbolizing environmental protection and hope. Each runner picks up the garbage along the way, puts it in an exclusive garbage bag, and takes it to the end of the road for unified treatment, using their own practical actions to promote the life style of garbage classification as well as low-carbon and environmental protection.
The plogging is jointly sponsored by the District Civilization Office, the District Greening and Urban Appearance Administration and the District Sports Bureau. On the site, organizers also launched a garbage sorting campaign with the theme of “more tidy, more orderly and more beautiful”, urging citizens to jointly contribute to the establishment of a national civilized urban area in Hongkou and the opening of the first CIIE.
